2014 Traveler Itinerary
This year we have 25 Tanzania Travelers from Shepherd of the Valley, arriving in three waves.
Kirsten departs July 21; Pastor Chris plus 13 depart July 29 and return August 12; Pastor Randy plus nine depart August 7; Randy's group plus Kirsten return home August 20. (AMS= Amsterdam; DAR=Dar es Salaam)
Here's what we have planned for each day (but that can change when amazing opportunities arise!)
Monday, July 21: Kirsten departs, MSP – AMS
Tuesday, July 22: AMS – DAR, Kirsten arrives in Dar es Salaam, met by Rev. John Mhekwa
Wednesday, July 23: Kirsten & Pastor John travel via bus to Iringa. Evening meal at The Lutheran Center with BKB Director Pastor Peter Harrits, Pastor John, Addy and Patricia Mhekwa
Thursday, July 24: Meetings at the Iringa Diocese Head Office and Bega Kwa Bega to purchase medicines
Friday, July 25: PM to Tungamalenga; Namelock village congregation
Saturday, July 26: In Tungamalenga and Makifu Parishes for the next six days. Tungamalenga Parish Partnership meeting; Idodi village congregation visit
Sunday, July 27: Worship at Tungamalenga Parish, Mpalapande and Mapogoro village congregation visits
Monday, July 28: Makifu Parish preaching point visits: Kisilwa, Ikwavila, Mahoning; meeting at Makifu with parents of scholarship students
Tuesday, July 29: Makifu Parish preaching point visits: Malunde, Isanga, Makambalala, Mahove; Group #1 departs MSP – AMS
Wednesday, July 30: Makifu Parish partnership meeting; Kibaoni and Kitisi village congregation visits; Group #1 continues AMS – DAR, arriving near midnight
Thursday, July 31: Kirsten returns to Iringa; Group #1 travels via bus to Iringa; welcome dinner at The Lutheran Center with Bega Kwa Bega Director, Rev. Peter Harrits
Friday, August 1: Bega Kwa Bega Overview presentation by Iringa Diocese General Secretary Nayman Chavalla, tour of Iringa Diocese offices & Radio Furaha & The Million Tree Project; get acclimated in the Iringa Market; visit Huruma Orphanage
Saturday, August 2: AM, complete any errands/shopping in Iringa; PM travel via bus 2 hours to Tungamalenga; check in at Tungamalenga Camp
Sunday, August 3: Worship at Makifu Parish, Makambalala village congregation
Monday, August 4: Visit Idodi Secondary School, visit preaching points
Tuesday, August 5: AM walk to Mahove; visit Makifu Parish preaching points
Wednesday, August 6: To Ruaha National Park
Thursday, August 7: Group #1 at Ruaha National Park; Group #2 departs MSP to AMS
Friday, August 8: Group #1 returns to Tungamalenga for Joint Partnership Committee Meeting; Group #2 continues AMS to DAR, arriving near midnight
Saturday, August 9: Group #1 returns to Iringa; Group #2 travels via bus to Iringa
Sunday, August 10: Worship at the Lutheran Cathedral Congregation; tour Isimila Stone Age Site 45 minutes south west of Iringa
Monday, August 11: Group #1 departs to DAR, dinner at Sea Cliff Hotel, flight from DAR to AMS departs around midnight; Group #2 has Bega Kwa Bega Overview presentation by Iringa Diocese General Secretary Nayman Chavalla, tour of Iringa Diocese offices & Radio Furaha & The Million Tree Project; gets acclimated in the Iringa Market; visits Huruma Orphanage
Tuesday, August 12: Group #1 flies AMS to MSP, arriving around 1 PM; Group #2 goes to Idodi Secondary School, continues on to Tungamalenga Camp
Wednesday, August 13: Group #2 walks to Mahove; visits Makifu Parish preaching points
Thursday, August 14: To Ruaha National Park. Kirsten stays in Tungamalenga.

Saturday, August 16: Back to Tungamalenga, Bega Kwa Bega Cup Soccer Tournament
Sunday, August 17: Worship at Tungamalenga Parish; PM return to Iringa
