Make a world of difference

Your gifts to Shepherd of the Valley's Tanzania Scholarship Fund make a world of difference to hundreds of students each year.  Here are a few whose lives have been changed by your generosity.

Joachim M. thanks you for your support! Joachim was orphaned early in life and raised by elderly grandparents. He attended high school with an SOTV scholarship, and he was a shining star, overcoming debilitating migraines and graduating at the top of his class. He continued his education with a degree as a physician's assistant, worked several years at the Tosamaganga Hospital, and just recently returned to school to complete his MD.

Maria K. thanks you for your support!  Maria was orphaned as a young child and lives with her uncle, an evangelist in our partner congregation.  Like most Tanzanian girls, she did not expect to be able to continue her education beyond the six years of primary school.  Thanks to support from SOTV’s Tanzania Scholarship Fund, she is in her third year of high school and has high hopes for her future.

Obed M. thanks you for your support! Obed grew up in the village of Idodi, completed secondary school and is now completing his last year of theology studies at the University of Iringa, thanks to scholarship support from SOTV.  He graduates this month and invites the people of SOTV to Tanzania to celebrate his ordination in February 2016.

Imelda M. thanks you for your support! Living in the remote hilltop village of Kisilwa, Imelda, like most Tanzanian girls, had little hope for education beyond the six years of primary school she attended in the neighboring village of Mahuninga. She was able to complete high school with the help of an SOTV scholarship, and now she is planning for a university course in tourism management.

Petro Shangalima thanks you for your support! Shown here with his wife and mother, Petro is grateful for the prayers and scholarship support he has received from SOTV. In 2004, his mother asked SOTV travelers to pray that he leave behind his “bad habits;” since then, he turned his life around, served the congregation as an evangelist for several years, is now completing theology studies, and will soon be ordained as a Lutheran pastor in Tanzania.

The average cost of a scholarship is $400/year. Please consider donating what you can. Please include “TZ Scholarships” in the memo line of checks, or in the description box if donating online at sotv.org/give. Deadline is Dec. 1. Your gifts make a world of difference!

Asante sana.
